89 Dodge truck conversion
Hi all, new in here and to forums in general.
Im after some knowledge about my 89 dodge dakota.
I would like to replace the 3.9 v6 with a v8.
I have done v8 conversions in the past but not with a dodge.
Mainly Australian cars as Im from New zealand.
Preferably I would like to drop a trusty old 350 chev into it as i have a couple of them sitting in the yard at work.
Does anyone out there know if there are any after market suppliers that could supply a bellhousing to bolt up to the original G/box. And also will the original gearbox and diff be strong enough to handle a bigger motor??
Its not going to be high performance but I know some 6 cylinder drivelines break just at the sight of a v8.
If a 350 chev is not a viable option, as it may not be able to be bolted up to the original driveline. Are there any chrysler options that would not be to much work??
Any advice or feedback would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to dodge forum. As master has said you will have better luck asking about this in the 1st generation dakota section. However I can tell you the v6 trans will not last long with a v8 infront of it. The rear end might if its the chrysler 8.25 but will not if its the 7.25 you can check this in the faq section of the 1st gen dakota section.Tuesday
Edit:if its the the 5 speed trans you can beef it up. Not sure on the bell housing.
