Why does the owner's manual specifically disallow the use of tire chains on 4x4 Dodge Dakotas equipped with 265/70R16 tires?

Probably cause they will tear the truck up? Not sure. Welcome to DF.

I suspect because with the larger tires, there isn't enough clearance for the chains.
