Default Oil from U joint--1990 Dodge w250 gasoline 5.9L

I'm getting oil on U joint, not grease, nor transmission fluid, just where drive shaft connects to Tranny. The seal looks dry, but I just had transmission rebuilt.Could it be an output shaft seal? Thanks for help. Steve

Probably. If the seal isn't properly lubed before installation, it'll get smoked pretty quick.....

Thanks. I didn't know there was oil around "that area". I'll pull the drive shaft. It must be gear oil ? If so, what weight and how or should, I add some when I put it back together? Steve

ATF +4 only.

Check trans fluid level, (in neutral, can't check in park) if the level looks good, don't worry about it.
