Hello everyone I have a 03 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab. My question is I have to replace the engine 4.7 3rd gen Magnum 4x4. Want to replace with a 2nd gen 5.9 Magnum 4x4. Will the engine bolt up to 4.7 transmission and have same plugs? What do I need to do?

 

Nope. Won't work. Everything is different. You would be much better off finding another 4.7. Keep in mind, they went thru changes over the years, that make the newer ones incompatible with the older electronics.

 

I was afraid of that! I was planning on replacing it with another 4.7 but with the Corona virus and places being closed until further notice I thought I would take a chance with a 5.9 a buddy of mine had. Thanks for you feed back I appreciate you! Take care.
