Gear ratio

If I have the wrong gear ratio in the rear end of a 02 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9l would it cause my tranny to act funny

Need matched gears front and rear. If they aren't, you can break stuff. Gets expensive real quick. Post in the third gen ram section. Folks there can help ya out.
