2007 Nitro R/T
I am a new member, and bought a 2007 black Nitro R/T a few months ago. I am a retired chemical engineer, with a lot of auto repair experience over a 50 year period. I live in Hot Springs Arkansas. I have been going through this Nitro, doing a first round of maintenance, and minor repairs. It has 120k miles, is in excellent condition. I am interested in conversing with other Nitro owners, particularly R/Ts and/or those with the 4.0L engine, as I encounter things.
One question I do have: I accelerated pretty briskly from a red light and the very next time I stopped and restarted, I got a CEL, and my code reader gave me P1004 "ecu battery and feed power ground" which another forum advised is a bogus descriptor, and actually is associated with the solenoid actuator on the intake short runner valve. So I removed the SOV and it was frozen up, but the valve stem on the manifold move freely between its limits. So I sourced and installed a new SOV, and cleared the code with my Foxwell. But, the CEL and code reappeared after the next stop-start cycle. Anothern forum advised "yep, they'll do that" and that a Dodge dealer has a SW patch for that, then the next reply in the thread says okay I had the dealer do the patch, and as I drove away the CEL returned. My control systems background says this glitch has no functional downside, so I am just putting up with the CEL, and the car's performance is excellent, and no other other codes coming up. I'd welcome any comments.
I can list all the things I have done to this Nitro so far, if someone is interested.
