Im here because any new vehicle ive bought in last 10 years has been a dodge. I want to like dodge. I want to stand behind my vehicles, but the quality control is terrible out of the factory.
Im happy with the reliability of my vehicles but they shouldn’t have bunches of small issues out the box.
My 2014 ram 5.7 8 speed that i bought new - front fender started rusting within 6 mo of buying it. There was a raised edge (like a nipple) on the underside of the fender that should have been ground down before paint. Caused the paint to chip + new england made it rust quickly. This was covered under warranty. My door panel was scratched from the factory and i watched it roll off of the truck, unlikely that it would have happened on the way. The touchscreen in that truck always froze and got hungup connecting bluetooth. Also the hood didnt like to latch and it was never in an accident. - all simple things that shouldnt happen on a brand new vehicle that honestly was great. You could twist that trucks arm all you want and it just took the beating.
Upgraded to 2019 ram 3500 with the cummins and 68rfe - truck is great so far but the camera system craps out every once in a while and wont give me any input just a black screen. Also the backup camera glitches every time my wipers come on? Should not do that. Also more annoyingly any time the truck is cold started (really cold) the truck makes a horrible noise that you can hear in this youtube video.
Everytime its at the dealer for this they cant find an issue. Now i live in florida so not such a big deal but still a big wtf. Truck has never been in an accident bought this brand new as well.
Now i just bought my girl a 2020 scatpack (great idea right lol) the car has 3000 miles on it. When i got home from dealer i went to take off yellow bumper guards to realize that the entire underside of the bumper had been scraped on something (40 miles on the car i only drove it home) this was covered and the dealer use a white rhino line type material to paint over this which not so big a deal because you cant see that part of the car unless you lay down. At about 1500 miles i went to wax the car and i realize that there are yellow spots UNDER the clear coat. Its super annoying. Like a pretty big yellow spot on a white car in the top middle of the bumper right where it meets the hood and also another near the fog light that is less noticeable. Dodge wont cover it says its not under the clear when it clearly is( no pun intended ).
All these things have lead me to have a poor view of dodge’s quality, when they do actually make a good product. I have spent roughly 130k on their vehicles in the last 6-7 years. It would be nice to just get one that isnt a mess out of the box.
i now just bought another truck and it wasnt a dodge (king ranch f450) and behold!!! No issues yet 5000 miles on it. Still have my 3500 ram. Its just sad because i want to like dodge. But i just doubt at this point that they will ever sell me a product that is not ********’d up in some way. Wish there was a cummins under the hood of my ford.
Thanks, i will contact them but i am scared to have the bumper off for a small problem.
here are pics of the yellow mark, the one on the lower bumper is hard to get a picture of. The second pic is of the ding on the bottom of rear drivers door that looks like someone tried to touch up :/ Car is sexy even still.
