New member from Alabama
Twice new here, just moved to Alabama, thinking of switching from my 2013, 2500, 5.7 to Cummins 3500. So joined up to do research on diesel truck. Family has been dodge truck owners since 70’s.
Had great success with all four of my trucks, 2 new from factory and 2 used. The 91 new from the factory and was the original 6 cylinder 12 valve with turbo and overdrive. I put almost 400 K on her. The 98 also new from factory was a quad cab 6 cylinder 24 valve which I had the edge performance chip and I had 180 K when a fella ran a red light and totaled her. The 99 was courtesy of the insurance company with 220K when I got her and I added another 100 K. She was not well maintained by the previous owner so traded her for the 2006 crew cab Big Horn edition. I'm retired on fixed income and $6.89 a gallon and 35 gallons was unaffordable. I traded her for the 2010 Dakota and so far I'm happy.
The only fly in the ointment I can see is the newer ones need to have DEF fluid level maintained. If you didn't need the one ton 3500 I'd sure look at the Eco-Diesel. 25 to 30 MPG and will still tow a pretty good size load. I have two friends that have them and they're very happy. Best to you in the Sunny South,
