Default DF newbie...

Greetings all...
Longtime Mopar guy, now finding DF thanks to the new Challenger...

My first car in 1985 was a 1972 Charger SE, followed soon in 1986 by a "more responsible" 1979 Omni (4-speed 1.7l) which I slapped on GLH ground effects for giggles... In 1991 I got my hands on one of 141, 1990 Dodge Shadow ES Intercooled VNT cars made and hung around the Shelby Dodge Club for a while... Drove that into the ground, hell I even snapped a camshaft on it... Eventually spun a main and the shavings killed the T4 turbo... What a blast that car was... Later down the road my last two tinker cars were a lowered, 2.5 exhausted, 1985 GLH n/a 2.2HO that I welded in new floors and plopped a MP 2.2 race carb on, and a 1987 Daytona Shelby that went nowhere...

My fondest Mopar memory was around 5 or 6 years of age... My uncle picked me up at the end of the road where the bus dropped me off... At the time he was in high school and was driving his 70-1/2 Superbee... I could barely see over the dashboard and that ONE blast down the road home as he hit the clutch and dumped through the gears with the pistol-grip was burned into my memories forever... Sadly, it wasn't long before the Superbee was totalled (he lost control showing off at some pond party and hit the concrete front steps of a house)... The Superbee was sold to some racers and he eventually passed away in 1983 from a one car roll-over into a river... My goal is to one day honor his memory with a 70-1/2 Superbee restoration project with my 6 yo son... Or just go with the new Challenger and pass that on to the boy later in life... <LOL>

Charger looked just like this, but with more New England body rot by the time I got it...

Although I bet rolling your car, then landing in a river rarely occurs, it's still horrible!

Welcome to the site! I hope you find excellent use of it

Pete,

Welcome to DF. This is the place to come for getting ideas, checking out other peoples rides, asking questions and sharing knowledge. Lots of good people here. Glad to have you aboard.

The Superbee projects sounds fun. Hope you can pull it off. Father/son auto projects can be a lot of fun.

James
