another newbie - from new zealand
Hey all
Dodge Rams are slowly becoming available here now. As soon as a saw one I new it was the vehicle for me. Once the trucks arrive in new zealand they spend about a month having Right hand drive conversion kits fitted. The entire interior of the truck is removed and a new one with the sterring wheel on the proper side is fitted. it adds an astronomical amount of money to the cost of the truck. I paid more for the 2002 Ram than you guys in the states would pay for a brand new one. But that is the price for living in paradise. Theres quite a few things on the todo list for my baby. Ill keep updating my pic each time theres a major physical change, First on the list is new rims and a drop kit. rims will be on in a couple of weeks (taken 8 weeks to get them here from boyd coddingtons).
I am going for the flame theme throughout the truck. hope to chat to you all soon

Ross,
WELCOME TO DF!! Congrats on the awesome Ram! I hear New Zealand is just... unbelievable and majestic. Can't wait to see more pics of your truck. Must have been tough waiting for it to be converted to a right side driver. Are you not allowed to use it as a left side driver at all, is it against the law? And you can't do any better then Boyd Coddington's rims... I'm very excited for you!! Glad to have you here!!

yes it is against the law. any vehicle bought into the country under 25yrs old must be converted. The conversion costs around $25000.00 NZD (roughly US$16500) so its a big forkout on top of getting the truck here. we also have to pay a 12.5% tax on the value of the truck when it arrives. my truck cost NZ$75000.00 all up. The Rims and tyres have cost me another $12000NZ, then the pioneer and blah blah blah, my bank account is taking a real hammering, but everywhere I go in that truck people gravitate to it like a magnet, there is nothing else in new zealand like dodgerams and there so few of them here.

New zealand is a wonderful place. love it here. I must take some pics of the truck in some scenic locations and post them up so people can see just how nice new zealand really is.
Nice wheels by the way, Dont see many of those in NZ, in fact I think there are only two in the whole country.

here is some more pics, the main part of the centre consol is out at the moment cause I have a bit of rearranging and redesign to do, should be back in next week.
basically though the cupholder and ashtray come out and the console buts right up tp the dash. it slopes down at 45 degrees from the shelf under the stereo. That slope is going to have gauge pod fitted at some stage. then it comes out and theres new cup holder and storage and then it envelopes the sub box.
