Ok, now I have three dodge trucks in the fleet, 1962 D100 Town Wagon, slant six, np420 four speed, 3.55 sure-grip, restored and being used on a weekly basis,
1968 D100 short, narrow, 318/727, being restored and now at the rocker panel repair stage with rebuilt mechanicals and now this new thing...

Got a great deal on this 2007 Ram 1500ST, six cylinder, six speed, short bed with a 3.21 rear axle. I haven't crawled under it yet, but does it even have grease fittings any more? I looked at the maintenance schedule and aside from oil changes, and air filter changes, does it require much maintenance in the first 100k miles? I am used to grease guns, yearly gearlube changes, repacking wheel bearings, adjusting brakes and clutches...

and the book says 5w-20 oil, we buy 15w-50 Rotella in bulk here at the ranch, and the last truck went 220k miles on it without the valve cover ever coming off....and being in Texas, cold starts are not an issue, but high temps and long highway pulls at 110 degrees are!

Nice fleet you have there. stop by http://www.hemitruckclub.com/ and download the '06 manual, it should be pretty darn close to your truck. Not sure about any fittings on your truck, most of it is sealed. I do know on the CTD's there is 1 spot that needs to be greased in one of the ujoints.

with the newer technology in the trucks these days, you wont have to do much beyond oil & fluid changes... tuneups have been extended 60~100k miles depending on the setup. see what the manual says and go by it.

Now the gf has already laid claim to my 1994 toyota mini-pickup with 216k on it and a unhappy second gear!

sounds like you need to get her a new tranny...

 

what I need to do is find a decent transmission guy with experience on the toyota five speeds and access to parts. I don't do enough shimming and setup work to get good at it. I have been shipping my bmw motorcycle transmission and heads off to a guy in Pennsylvania. However, on this last project, on the 68 D100, a rebuilt 727 was $450 with a torque converter, while the long block, LA318. was $860, with new pistons and a turned crank, now let see if we can run the motor enough to get the carb tuned in, holley 2300, 350 cfm two barrel, with the electric choke! has a slight miss when cold, but sorting that out too.

I have some time off at the end of the year, and the weather is NICE, and the gf goes to Ohio for two weeks on temporary duty, so lets see if I can get the rocker panels and steps rebuilt on the 68, back pasture refenced, swap out the rear luggage rack on the 83 BMW R80ST, change a bunch of motorcycle tires...
