stratus rt
ThePickler is talking about me...
I have a 01 Stratus R/T that I'm looking to get a little more power out of. I mean, cause if he goes out and buys a WRX, I need to compete somehow!
So I'd have to go custom on the turbo? I guess that's okay, but it's probably VERY costly?

It all depends on if it's a coupe(2-door) or a sedan(4-door). The coupe is mitsubishi powered and the sedan is all Chrysler. The mitsubishi is more likely to have an existing turbo set-up already made for it.

If he gets a normal WRX then your job is fairly easy. If he gets the WRX STi then it will take alot to beat him. First off the WRX being AWD means your pretty much screwed from light to light. If he gets the STi it just makes it that much harder.
The most important thing you need to beat him is a good launch, because he can launch sloppy and still look like a pro due to the AWD. A cold air intake, high flow catalytic converter, headers, larger mandrel bent exhaust, free flowing muffler, larger throttle body, upgraded/reprogrammed computer, larger injectors and sticky tires. A turbo kit is expensive, but extremely effective.
If he gets an STi, a turbo kit is a must and it will cost alot of money to keep up. Nitrous is also an option that may need to be added to a turbo kit to beat him. If it is an STi, save your money and get an SRT-4. An SRT-4 with the Stage 1 upgrade is just about at the same level as an STi. A few more added goodies and your on top, especially if you can get an '04 SRT-4, they come with a limited slip differential and Stage 1 already in it.<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

No, it's cool though.. I love how the SRT's look on the outside, but I sat in one and it's so stripped down... I guess that's how they're supposed to look, but my R/T is decked out inside (leather everything, power everything, etc etc). I just wish I had more power out of it, but maybe it's a good trade off for me?I guess I'll just have to try to talk my buddy out of buying the WRX.
Look for turbo kits for the eclipse as well as the stratus you will have better luck if you havent already. I used to have an 01 stratus rt. I found 1 made custom by some company ( cant remember specifics ) but I know there are some out there.
no no no no no.
i dont know why everyone has gotten so hard up for turbo.
www.rippmods.com
there are guys getting Well over 400hp with the stage 2 ripp supercharger. ripp sells other high end stuff for the RTs, but youre gonna pay top dollar.
chrysler did make a trubo 3.0 in the early 90s, but it was super rare, and without generous modification, it wont bolt up to the new 3.0 mitsu.
what do you have done to the Rt now?

i know..Ripp only makes superchargers..not turbo...i dont know who made the turbo kits that are being run on the RTs...ive never seen one in person, and ive only seen 2 or 3 online...its just too cramped under the hood to bother with turbo...SC it...ripps piece is amazing..
