Default Chevy SSR LS2

How fast is the new SSR going to be? It's got the new Corvette LS2 V-8 with 390 horsepower and 405 pound feet of torque. It's also got a 6-speed manual transmission, I'm wondering if it will beat the Lightning.

Yeah buddy! Ok, I have no idea how fast....but wow! Dangit...sure wish I had the money for one of those. They are beautiful trucks! There's a silver one running around Fontana and it's nice! Bet that thing'll give the Lightning a run for it's money!

The SSR is a pretty cool looking truck??(not really a truck, but anyway)

The LS2 motor will be a nice addition, but to truly be a "hot rod" it needs to go on a extreme weight lose program. Trim it down to about 3500-3800lbs. Looe the trick folding top and put on a real hardtop. Does it come with a manual tranny? If not, it needs one.

It's a blatant ripoff of the success of the PT, which is good I guess. Whatever gets em in the showroom I hate to jinks it, but it is likely to follow in the footsteps of the Prowler.

Time will tell I guess.

Yea, the manual and LS2 are new for 2005. As heavy as it is it is still 500lbs less than the Lightning. I love the SSR but it is 40K and I'd rather spend 5 more grand for an SRT Ram. If it was just a little cheaper it would be awesome.

I think it's up from 39K to 40K but I'm not sure, I'll have to check the prices.

I've driven one. It has the 5.3/auto combination. I was impressed. I think it's a neat looking vehicle (I refuse to call it a truck). Nice smooth ride, I got a kick out of the way the top folds in and out.

Yuck!

It's just another cheezy GM POOPY factory wanna be hot rod. I agree with the weight lose statement. I don't think it will hang with a lightning.

I wonder how the people who already own a ssr feel now that the thing will finally have some motor in it.

we had a guy trade one in with like 5000 miles on it, and he called it, "terribly dissappointing."...so he got a viper instead.
