The more factories the big 3 can close now, the more union workforce they can eliminate, and then when things pick up, they'll just open or purchase non-union factories. This will be key to their longterm survival.

with the treasury department owning 90 % of the stock in Gm now they are fully in control of the board and Chryslers new board will be made up of all new members from fiat and goverment appionted members with no ties to chrysler or fiat so goverment is fully in control there also. Ford is now the only pirvately owned auto maker in US, 2 down ,1 to go ! Banks are now not being allowed to pay back loans to goverment because they don't pass a new stress test the goverment has come up with leaving them in control of those banks also, pretty scary to me!

That's not true at all... they'll just setup shop in the south. We have non-union plants in TN, TX, GA, etc. where people get paid fairly, still receive benefits, and everyone is happy.
