Default 2003-2006 Dodge Magnum R/T

Done By:
65standard

Performed on:
2005 Dodge Magnum R/T, 5.7L HEMI, Automatic

Items needed:
-13mm wrench or socket
-10mm wrench or socket
-Ramps/jack stands/lift
-Container to catch oil
-7 quarts of oil of your choice (5w-20 is need for MDS to work properlyl)
-Oil filter
-Oil filter socket type wrench
-A few rags

1. Run engine until achieving normal operating temperature.
2. Lift vehicle off the ground, either by jack stands, driving it up on ramps, or lifting it with a hoist.
3. Remove oil filler cap.
4. Remove the lower engine sheild. It is held on with four 10mm bolts.
5. Place a suitable oil-collecting container under the drain plug.
6. Remove oil pan drain plug using 13mm wrench or socket and allow oil to drain into container. Check the drain plug to make sure the threads aren’t stripped and the o-ring on the plug is still okay. If it’s not, get a replacement drain plug.
7. Remove oil filter using the socket type filter wrench. Clean and check the filter mounting surface. It must be smooth and free of debris.
8. Install and tighten drain plug to 20 ft/lbs.
9. Install new oil filter. I always fill the new filter with oil first. Make sure to lubricate the gasket on the top of the filter. Screw the filter on until the gasket contacts the base and then tighten one turn past contact or 8 ft/lbs.
10. Fill crankcase with proper amount of oil. It will take a full 7 quarts of oil.
11. Install oil fill cap and wipe up all oil around drain plug, filter, and filler neck.
12. Start engine and check oil pressure and for leaks
13. Stop engine and reinstall the plastic lower engine shield.
14. Check oil level with car level and add if necessary.
