Default My '01 1500 engine light is on!! need help!

Hi, my name is Chad. i own a '01 Ram 1500 4x4. I just bought it around the 1st of last December. I was driving home today and noticed the engine light on and noticed when I idle or slow at a stop it seems to run erratically, kinda like a misfire. Keep in mind I live in central Ohio and the temperaturein the last week has been at or below freezing. So when I got homeI checked for the code and as expected, up came a misfire code (P0306, misfire in cylinder #6). It has a 5.9L V8 in it. Could it be a dirty or clogged injector? What should I do? I run 87 octane in it and have half a tank left. Should I wait till empty and dump some injector cleaner in it, or can I dothis now?? Should I run a tank of 93 octane plus injector cleaner to remedy the problem? I'm just trying to find an easy fix before taking it to a service desk. Any other suggestions if any of the above solutions doesn't work? I hope its only the injector, please be the injector. Thanks to all who reply. Oh, this is my first post so bear with me.

Thanks,
Chad

My '01 has the same problem. I havent checked the code yet, but when my truck is at idle it doesnt run very smooth. A few weeks ago it would die when I put it into gear after first starting it, unless I gave it a little gas to get the rpm's up. But lately it's running fine, but the check engine light is still on.

pull the plug wire off on #6 cylinder while running. Any change in the way it idles? If yes, then it is most likely fuel related. If no, than start checking things in the ignition system......wires.....plugs.......rotor.....cap... ..
