My buddies 01 gmc 1500 single cab has a decent bit on me in the 1/4 mile. I think its like 5.3 or somthin in it? I never looked at the motor though.

 

from what i've seen at the local track, the chevy's are around .5 seconds quicker than the ram's in the 1/4. and usually a full second or better faster than the ferds. from what i've read online though, a 97 ram w/ 360 should be able to easily out-pull the chevy 350...assuming gears are similar.

 

send him my way ill give him 3 lengths even...

 

5.7's will own 5.9's all day long... close to 300 hp vs. 250 (if your lucky) from a 360. also chevys are so much lighter then dodges are.. the only thing that can keep up with the 5.7 is the hemi.. and the hemi's ***** on chevys all the time.. diesels on the other hand.. a duramax will beat the cummins (stock) but a second and a half in the quarter mile

 

I thought the old 5.7liters only put out about 250hp? how much do they put out?

 

hemi's are pretty slow stock or close to stockalso maybe 10.6 to 10.2 in the 1/8th give or take from the 3 or 4 stock ones here at the track.........3rd gens are heavy and are less aero........i was running 10.4 to 10.2 when i first started adding parts.......its fun racing the guys that come up and say "Lets race ive got a Hemi"just to rub it in sometimes i lag at the light for second and pass them before or at half track

 

where are you getting 300HP from a stock 98 chevy 5.7L? everything i saw online said around 250hp and 300-320tq

the newer 5.7's i guess.. the motor in the 02 avalanche has a 5300 vortec 5.7... 315 hp not sure what the 98's have
