pretty sure that's a 5.3L motor

just like the 3800's are a 3.8L...the 3400's are a 3.4L, 3100's are 3.1L, etc...


i agree though, the newer5.3 and 6.0 are pretty stout motors...i want to say they're a LSx design. a little more advanced than the old three-fity

 

A 5300 Vortec is a 5.3, not 5.7

What about trannys? I'm definitely not a Chevy fan, and I'd put my 360 withintake and exhaustup against a 350 any day, but I think the allison transmissioncan give a much more solid shiftthan whatever mopar put in these 1500's.

 

This is 2 different year modles My dodge 2004 4.7 and you see my mods in my sig and a 87-89 chevy 1500 reg cab 2wd with a 350, we raced 2 or 3 times from rolls and heads up and i got him everytime, and he has a 350 bored 40 over a cam and turbo heads with flattop pistons with headers and exaust is the mod list he gave me of his truck also he was running a turbo 350 tranny with shift kit and i got him from take off all the way till i hit the 100mph mark i got him by my front fender is all though, so you may have a chance i would think.

 

i havent driven any of the second gen dodges but i sure hope they can beat the chevy's of a similar year, i can smokem all in my ramcharger 318, albeit its not stock, but i have raced a 97 and a 98 chevy, the 98 z71, and beat both, but the 2wd is quicker than the 4

 

98 is still the 350 set-up. i beleive they are 250ish.

 

I will say a newer chevy, more then likely with a 5.3L pulled on my 5.9 Durango pretty good, but i did put a good hurtin on a avalanche with my prelude, so that made me happy

 

you should run my buddy Bigshrerm...he has a hemi na qc and last time out ran a 13.29 1/4....
