Banks sidewinder says otherwise. Dakota is more aerodynamic then you think.. not as good as a z06 or viper but better then some of those damn ugly *** tanks back in the 70s. lol. Also back in the 70s 80s ect the cars where made from steel not this fiberglass **** and carbonfiber, roadrunner, charger, cuda, ect all heavy *** cars that will smoke just about anything with work.

1.Today's sports cars weigh a lot more than 1,500 pounds. That's what Indy cars weigh....
Lotus Elise, about the lightest production car you can buy- just under 2,000
Mazda Miata- 2,800 lbs
Corvette Z06- 3,100 lbs
My 350Z- 3,260 lbs
Mustangs/ Trans Ams/ Camaros- 3,400 ish lbs
My Audi A4- 3,530 lbs
Pontiac GTO- 3,800 lbs
Charger R/T, 300C- 4,100 lbs
My Dakota R/T extended cab weighed around 4,200. So small.midsize trucks aren't as heavy as youmight think, and small/sports cars aren't as light as youmight think.
2. W/ the mods you have listed, I highly doubt you're truck is capable of outrunning any NA Mustang. Come to North Dakota,and I know some NA'Stangs that will rape you. I kinda doubt youwould even outrun a well-driven STOCK '07 Mustang GT. My '99 R/T had cai, intake manifold, throttle body, shaved, ported, polished aluminum RT heads, cam, headers, full exhaust, programmer, and I got my *** handed to me by several NA Mustangs. You're truck lined up w/ a Mach 1, or Cobra Mustang, would be no competition, trust me. Espec if the race goes past 85 or so.
3. 'Cudas, Chargers, and all those other 'heavy *** old cars that can smoke just about anything w/ some work' are still only good at one thing- a straight line. Toss even a little chicane in the mix, and their shortfalls become apparent very quuickly. They have terrible brakes, suspension, and would prob get waxed by a stock Miata around a racetrack. And they will still have their hands full in a straight line w/ a modded Evo or STi.
4. As for what Gale Banks is capable of doing w/ trucks, the point is, a car w/ that much money, time, and development invested into it is still gonna beat that truck in EVERY category. Better acceleration, better top-speed, better braking, etc
So, trucks might be capable of outrunning many cars. And they might be able to be made to handle pretty well, or stop decent, but the fact remains- That's NOT what they are made for. You can make anything fast w/ enough money, but it's much easier and cheaper to make cars 'fast' than it is trucks. And they're also gonna everything else better in the process. That's what I'M saying.....
A modded cummins will smoke most cars out there. Look at some of the truck in the cummins section and look at what there mods are. They may be designed to haul ****, but they are still fast. Hell, I smoked a mustang off the line hauling a 2,000lb trailer with a polris ranger on it. If the race would have went on he would have prevailed, but I let the smoke pour and beat him to where the lanes merge. I wasnt edging anything on either. The past 3 lights he had been trying to pass me and rev his engine. We got to the light and he reved. I floored it and ppulled out before him. I wasnt sure the model of the mustang or mods though.
The fact is that trucks may not be designed to go fast, but they do. Sharx Ram and Triton could probably beat anyone in here. As soon as tritongets his motor rebuilt that is, lol. He blew it on his last race. Not pretty.

hey i hate rice as much as the next guy... well maybe more because people think that a fart can and go fast stickers suddenly make u the **** (thanks alot f.and f.) but lets be honest... do we really need to sink to the level of misguided wigger ricers and pick fights for the sake of it? i mean we can take em we know and we might as well leave the rice stomping for those dumb enough to challenge us... right?

1) "a well driven mustang" - im pretty sure most of us in here arent john force. im sure his wife is prob a good driver but i dont think she could cut a 1.6 60' in that mustang, esp on stock tires. or she might i dont kno, as for N/A mustangs, u must exlude the cobras then(i beleive in 02) they got the s/c and i've riden in a 96 4.6 cobra bone stock, barely faster then a WS6 t/a thats what there were made to compete against.
2) Evos and STis blow ***, i've seem em do great till bout the 1/8 then they fall flat on their face. i should kno my 1988 TBI 305 t/a made 200hp at the flywheel, i only lost to a evo by 3 lengths(not bad for me i suppose) but then again none of us were professional drivers.
3) whos says trucks can be race? i had a 01 ram 1500(i totalled it avoiding a deer), i threw on a cherry bomb(had the 5.9 and sounded badass
) and i would pick on the ricers cuz they come up to me downshiftin hard, fart cannon blarring, radio blast and i would rev my truck to drown them out and they think it was a race, and me being a imature 20 year old would race them and beat them, it aint hard to beat a 1996 honda civic with a teenage that can drive bout as good as a 2 year old. im not much better but i've been to the track a few thousands times, i've talked to the professional guys, gotten tips and what not. hell most of em bring their car, race their car till they loose in the bracket race(either by being .001 slower then the other guy or busting out) then get in their trucks, up the programmer to level 5 and run 13/14s all day with just a programer, intake and exhusat. tell me that aint impressive

Your post was kinda difficult for me to understand, but from what I gathered-
1. I don't know who mentioned a 1.6 60' time, but you are correct, there is NO way in hella stock Mustang will come even close to that. As for the Cobra's, they weren't superchargeduntil the 2003 model year. There wasn't an '02 Cobra. '99-'01 Cobra's were N/Athough, and are capable of low-mid 13's stock. Which isenough to give even a heavily modded truck a fit in a straight line. About the '96 Cobra- they won't even outrun a WS-6 stock for stock. I had a '97 WS-6 Vert, and it'd put it to a SN95 Cobra.
2. Why do Evo's and STi's 'blow ***'??? There is NO faster car for the money than those two. And what does 'falling on their face after the 1/8' mean??? Stock STi's are 13.0 cars, and the new Evo IX's are capable of 12.90's. That's not what I consider falling on one's face. I've personally witnessed a stock STi race a stock '06 GT from a 50 roll (which isan STi's weakness) and the STi pulled all the way to 120, at which point the Stang started reeling him in slowly. And w/ just afew grand, they are easily into the 11's. So here you have a car that be into the 11's w/ not much money or mods; is a practical daily driver; gets nearly 30mpg; holds 5 people; can be driven rain, snow, or shine; and still outhandle most cars on the road. Does that 'blow ***'?? Cause it sure sounds pretty damn good to me......
3. Not sure what you were trying so say there, but IFyou're saying trucks can be raced and be fast, of course they can. But that goes for anything. A freakng Yugo can be madeto go fast if you dump enough money into it. Stock trucks are NOT fast though. I repaeat, NOT fast. W/ the exception of Ram SRT10's and Lightning's.(which still sit on the fence)Some trucks may move out well for what they are, but they are not fast. My dad owns a Hemi Ram w/ programmer, headers, exh, cai, 6.1 cam, headwork, UD pulleys, throttle-body, some other bolt-ons. It's not fast. I used to own a '99 Dakota RT w/ shaved, ported, polished aluminum heads; bigger cam; cai; tune; headers; full exhaust; bigger, ported TB; shift-kit; stall, etc. It was not fast. (it WAS hella fun though) My 350Z w/ bolt-ons is notfast. A C5 Z06 is fast. An '03-'04 SVT Cobra is fast. A 5,000lb full-size truck is not fast, even if runs low 15's. Hell, even if runs low 14's.
Now, this post was not intended to insult you or anyone else and trucks can be fun rides in themselves. (espec if they're bagged and body-dropped IMO)And #3 was just generally speaking. One person's perception of fast is going to be different from another's. But the fact remains- 14 sec and up et's is by no means fast, no matter how you look at it. Yes, it may be good for a truck, but that does nothing when there's a gears and bolt-ons Mustang GT next to you at the light. Yes, trucks can be made to go fast, but the simple fact of the matter is- the faster the platform you start out w/, the faster it will ultimately be mod for mod, and in most cases, dollar for dollar. Therefore, no matter how fast a truck is; a car w/ the same power will be much quicker. No matter how fast a truck can be made; a car can be made to go faster cheaper andeasier..........The End.
cant compare a viper to a honda for three main reasons
1.) a viper for the most part has atleast 6 more cyls then a honda does unless they got a v6 accord then for more cyls
2.) a viper is an $80-$100,000 car and a honda civic is a $15-$25,000 car
3.) the viper was made for all out perfomance and hondas are made to get 30+mpg ..
so its a no brainer thata viper will smoke a civic for the most part ... and i used to have a honda bash me all you want but i will have another honda.. i plan on getting one and rebuilding it as a project car so i can have a good learning expirence on how to work on cars.. yea i had an exhaust on my car and an intake the exhaust was free from my uncle and the intake was $30 on ebay does that make me a ricer? i dont race around places and try to race ppl like other ppl do in civics and accords i jus drove my car as a normal person should.. btw this mustang wit a built 302 tried to race me... dude had a cam and exhaust at the minimum i jus laughed at him im like wtf? im in a lil four banger accord and getting bullied by dbags like that.. since owning a 4banger ive learned not to like sum of the muscle car guys who thing they r the **** for packing a big v8 under the hood and like going around challenging lil 4bangers..my truck will always be a dodge and my car will always be a honda.. hondas are cheap and light and very cheap to build up to have sum power to be able to have fun it but also at the same time still get atleast 25mpg.. i like hondas bcuz they are the most reliable cars you can buy and they will run well over 250000 miles on one engine and for the most part on on transmission... talk **** all u want about hondas but i jus look at u as immature dumbasses who need to grow up.. that sad part is.. im 16 yrs old and im more mature than sum of the guys on here close to their 30's ..idk it jus drives me nuts when i was drivin and sum dude thinkin he was a hard *** started revin at me in my 4banger accord with an exhaust and intake...happened to me several times..

scg sry but lol there is a faster car for $30,000 a car that no1 here has mentioned and is an import legend i kno even muscle car guys that would even kill to own one that the is a twin turbo toyota supra.. its a hell of alot harder to find than a wrx or evo but will blow the doors off of one any day .. im not gunna lie im gunna be straight up toyota supras are my favorite cars.. bcuz in my eyes they are about the fastest car ur gunna get that will still be street legal no1 since the 90's has made a car better than that supra.. unless u wanna count the event more rare and hard to find skyline .. but a built supra will smoke jus about anyone on this blog... and i would put money down on that .. u guys diss hondas and "ricers" and "fart cans" but ive seen sum crazy *** honda civic hatcbacks and sum crazy *** honda crxs.. ive seen vids of an all motor crx running 9's.. no turbo no s/c so u cant diss all hondas like u guys do.. hondas arent made to be fast like trucks arent made to be fast but you can make them fast you can make any car fast like sum1 on here previously said if u really wanted to you could make a geo metro haul *** if u took the time out to build it.. i jus think u guys need to quit dissiing imports and each other as much as u guys do..
