Ricetard?
ORIGINAL: BadStratRT
as ive said before...if someone hits the right numbers, ill be driving one, but a 4 door, 4 cylinder, with that wing, and dual exhaust...i dont know who here us familiar with the ricer violation form, but the SRT has factory violations.
and for the record, can anyone provide positive proof that mistubishi wasnt involved with the SRT4 engine? considering the success of the DSMs, and that the new neon is rumored to be, basically an evo..also, a few people who are hardcore dsm people, insist that the block and head are from a mistu turbo motor base. lots of people have opinions, but no proof anywhere.

Yeah, there is positive proof and it's called Dodge. The only Mitsu product on the SRT-4 is the turbocharger itself, that's it, nothing else. The engine itself is nothing more than a bigger earlier Neon 2.0L DOHC engine with lower compression. And yes the earlier Neon engines are 100% Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge, just because they were used in the Eclipses doesn't mean that they are Mitsubishi. They were used in the Eclipses as part of the joint venture known as DSM, but they are 100% Chrysler. Kinda like how the later Lasers, Talons, Stealths and Conquests were simply Dodge badged Mitsubishis, the Neon 2.0L DOHC engines were used in the later years of the Eclipses. And rumors are just that, they're rumors. And of course the DSM dumb dumbs are gonna try and claim the SRT-4's engine, it is very powerful and fairly bullit proof. Naturally everyone is gonna try to claim that it is anything but Chrysler, I bet the Mercedes die hards are claiming that it is theirs as well.
well, the reason i ask about proof positive, with the older engines, every single part...the head, the block...pistons...all had MD part numbers...(mitsubishi distribution), much like they do for my car now. as where the SRT parts, do not.
im not flamming...so dont get all pissed off..like i said...i may end up with one any day here,,

I know that you aren't flaming, if I thought you were I would have mentioned it.
It's just that I've gotten tired of all the bad misinformation floating about in regards to the SRT-4 and it's build. The only non-Chrysler or non-American things about the SRT-4 are the Mitsubishi turbocharger and the fact that the engines are assembled in Mexico, both facts that I am not proud of, but those are the facts regardless.[:@]

I raced my friend in his civic (intake, headers, skunk2 exhaust, rims) yesterday from a 45mph roll on the interstate, and my stock neon was walking him. Even though it was only alittle at a time it was very obviouse that I would have eventually taken an steady lead. I dont mind people calling me a ricer the mods that are out there are produced by alot of the same companys who make the same mods for imports so yes some of them will resemble a ricer.
