years of street racing..it has finally happened
so im on my way to hockey practice tonight, in the RT. driving along the interstate, and it was around 850, so not alot of cars on the freeway. i come up on a group of 3 cars, and i can see the last one in line is a late model monte ss, with some AM dual exhaust. as i go around him in the left lane, he happened to get where he had to slow down because he got to the back of the other 2 cars in the right lane. well, he pulls a ricer sweep, and swings in behind me, and turns his highs on, riding close enough that i could no longer see his headlights. we get past the other 2 cars, and he swings into the other lane, and i expect him to jump on it, but instead he just rides off my rear corner. i shifted into 3rd, around 75 or so, and we got to the long straight stretch that runs between 2 rest stops. he just rode there, with his highs on, so i turned my 4 ways on, and i saw him drift back a bit, and begin to make his run. i was already in third, and he got as close as the middle of the door on my car, before i shifted to 4th, and pulled away as we hit the long downhill stretch that leads into a mild let turn, with an exit and on ramp in it, and at that point, it turns into 3 lanes. so, i am pulled away from him going down the hill, until i get to about 125-130, and he seemed to be off it, and we were quickly approaching 2 more cars..so i got off it. then he pulled his flyby. and i sped up a bit, and pinned him behind the slower cars, and he passed them on the birm, so it was on again. rigth past where it goes to 3 lanes, there is an oddly banked right hand turn, and it is pretty sharp, with a bridge in the middle, and this is the area at which alot of street racers find themselves in the ditch. i got along side him as we reached another car, who stayed in the middle lane. he took the outside lane, and i took the inside, getting alnog him as we blew past the slower car.
now, at this point we were far enough into the turn that my hands were crossed over, and i glanced at the speedo....120ish, i thought about backing off, but i could hear him sliding a bit, and we were side by side, and i wasnt losing to a car which car and driver (sept 2002, low impacts domestic sportcars) said was by far inferior to my car, especially in cornering. so i stayed wide open....i heard him get off it, and swing behind me, just as i got to the bridge..i could feel my car just hanging on, like it was on a rail, leaning about as far as it could. then came the bridge, and the bump at the end of it....i hit the bump and my front tires broke loose, the car went into a hard slide, i lifted and chased the front end out all the way across the outside 2 lanes, and into the birm...i kept it headed in the right direction, sliding to the point where i could see him get way off of it and pull onto the exit ramp the back end whipped back around, the car straightened out, and i hammered it back into third, and pulled ahead of him again...watching him exit...
i was dizzy...my head spinning, and i had to stop on the side of the highway to catch my breath, and to relieve myself...because i damn near pissed my pants. so, after years of racing on the street and track..and i am VERY confident in my high speed driving, and to be honest, i pride myself in it. but after all of these years..i finally found a point at which i could say...i was going way too fast, and i had startled myself a bit.
but in the end..i still got the double win on the piece of....GM POOPY

Sweet kill, you gotta watch that high speed stuff. I took a turn like that pullin 130 in a heavily modded Saturn SL2 passing some ricer punk, and went airborn when i hit a bump. Fliped 3 times over the other car and landed upsidedown in a ditch. Needless to say she was totalled, but I crawled away w/o a scratch. Don't know if I would call that a win or not...
Fast goooood... until you make a mistake. Remember no one is invincible, and you wouldn't want to wreck that R/T would you? she doesn't deserve that does she?
Badstrat...I had a somewhat similar incident tonight. I got on the highway onramp...and being that I was somewhat pissed off I gunned it, just rippin through gears. Well as I was approaching the part where the onramp goes on the highway I'm doing almost 100mph already. I see a semi truck in the right lane before I get to the end of the ramp, i look back to check whats behind it, nothing. So I tear across two lanes and pull even the with the semi truck and about 100. Well the dumbass semi truck starts coming over in my lane because there is someone on the side of the road fixing a flat or something i couldn't really tell. All i know was he was coming into my lane. So I did the only thing I could to avoid getting wrecked, I pulled onto the shoulder and drover over the rumble strips. My friends were behind me trying to keep up and said they heard me run the rumble strips over. Well I passed him on the shoulder doing about 85-90. Now I'm really pissed off. Then it happened to me again later that night on my way home. Some guy got over in the right lane, me being the left lane haulin *** like normal, he starts back over into my lane. I honk at him and once again pull onto the shoulder at about 75ish to save my car and slam on the breaks. I was never really that shaken up in either instance...I was quite pissed off though. Glad to hear you didn't wreck..people were trying to wreck me tonight. I could tell.
i have to say, everytime something like this happens, im reminded of why i only use yokohama tires.
Trending Topics
yokohama parada spec2. theyre great for dry traction, pretty good in rain, but yokohama specifially states, not for snow use.
If they can corner and give traction in a straight line thats what I need. I'll have snow tires since I don't intend on running new rims in the snow whenever I get them.
well then, i would strongly suggest parada spec2's....i think they cost me something like 315 for 4, my cost. for a 205-40zr-17
