No offense to anyone but if you want to see real racing watch an SCCA race and then decide which type of racing takes more skill- turning left at the end of the straight or turning left AND right while shifting, braking and accelerating. NASCAR has becomeshiney cars in a parade.......BOOORING!
Pony cars in the Busch or whatever series won't be any better because you still have the same people in charge. Pony cars in SCCA though will be another story all together. Anyone remember the old TRANS-AM days. COOL!

Like it or not, it does take a great deal of skill to be inches apart through that left hand corner at 200 mph. I have much respect for the drivers, it takes NADS !![sm=gears.gif]

I'll just stick with Rally and Drag Racing...

I'm not a fan of nascar... sure, it takes a lot of skill to drive those cars, and i'm sure if you're driving it's fun as hell, but i just can't sit there and watch it... completely different experience if you're actually at the race, i'm sure... I've been at Indy races and those are fun... and actually being at the races is 75% of why I love professional Drag Racing.

Rally on the other hand... well that stuff is insane. I go to a rally race every year. those guys really are crazy.

I just wish Nascar didn't overshadow all other forms of racing (as far as what's on TV anyway). I got bored of it a long time ago, watching them go around an oval just isn't that interesting for me, now that they all use the same car it's even less interesting. (Can't really root for a certain brand anymore, they're all the same)
I agree with you in that there are way too many oval tracks and not enough road courses. I wouldn't mind having one or two oval tracks but I definitly think that there should be more road courses. As far as them all using the same car, well that's what makes it stock racing, but I do kindof agree that I wish they could make other modifications.
They haven't raced anything that could be considered even close to stock for many many years. To me, stock car racing should mean you take a mostly stock car and race it against other mostly stock cars, not everyone with the same car racing in circles to sell oil, viagra and chewing tobacco.

In the last few years, NASCAR has tried to become everythingto everybody and has lost some of it's hardcore fan base. Call it greed or whatever, but they don't want to accept the fact that NASCAR is a niche in automotive racing just like every other type of racing is. NASCAR isn't for everyone, despite the hype. Different strokes for different folks.......

Agreed ! Steel bumpers, jacks that took more than one pump to lift a car, cars that look like the ones on the showroom floor, supercars available to the public, those were the days!!
