Default My Ram vs. A Taco

Just curious as to who you think would win in a race between a stock 98 1500 4x2 with a 5.9 and a 06 Tacoma with a 4.0 V6?

Curb Weights:

Ram (Depending on model spec's) 4660 lbs
Tacoma (Depending on model spec's) 3950 lbs

Torque:

Ram 345 ft-lbs
Tacoma 266 ft-lbs

Horsepower:

Ram 250 hp
Tacoma 236 hp

From those figures I'd say it's tough to call, and maybe about even matched.
At first glance the torque advantage makes it look like you'll wipe the streets with the Taco...
But you might have a lot more torque and a little more hp, but you have huge frontal area and lots more weight.

It might hinge entirely on where you can access your peak torque, and therefore maybe gears or AT versus manual tranny are your main concern.

The Tacoma has 4.10 gears if it's a 4x4.

My buddy has an '05 and its a pretty peppy little truck. But..... I had a '98 Jimmy four door with a CAI, Cat-back exhaust, and a Hypertech tuner which allowed me to stay right with him stop light to stop light. Oh and I had 3.42 gears. I want to say that you have a good chance. Let us know how it turns out.
