OK. so you are going to have a running start and the Neon SRT4 is going from a dead start. If this is the way you would stage the race, it's possible. The SRT4 is traction limited without slicks.

The top runners in the world can run the 100m in 9.85 seconds, I have never seen any football player run 40 yards in 4 seconds or the entire field in 11 seconds, at least not fully equipped. You may be able to beat your car to the 60' mark, however it is highly unlikely and if you do it's only because your car isn't being launched properly. Your car can turn the 60' in 1.8-2.0 when launched right, but most only get 2.2-2.5 due to a bad launch.

No running start. From a dig to 60'. When it's a little warmer, I'll film it. This should be a kick.

Thank you for acknowledging the possibility, RR.

Drew - where did you run?

i believe that the fastest player in the NFL is dante hall (or at least he was)..and he only ran the 40 in like 4.1..lets say he could keep that pace over a 100, that would be

4.1x(100/40)=10.25 seconds, roughly...(i know this isnt really the best method, im just making a point)

that means that youre saying you are almost as fast as the fastest player in the NFL?

and you do what for a living?

I am in commercial real estate.

Really, in competitive track and field, 10.8, or 11 seconds in the hundred is pretty damn good, but there are certainly plenty of better runners out there. I did practice with the US team at Foxcatcher (wasn't on the team, just practiced with them) in wrestling, and track and field/decathalon, but that and competing in major regionals was as far as I got before I tore my ACL near the end of high school and ended up settling for throwing the javelin only for my last year and in college. I practiced 2 times a day, 6 days a week, for 4 years. I was actually only the second fastest guy on the team. My boy E.J. ran 10.6 at his best, and I was always on his tail in my freshman year (he was a senior). My friend Dave had me by a tick in the 400m, as well. We won the state championship when I was there.

And those are high school records.

FYI the World record in the 100 is 9.78, by Tim Montgomery.

I don't know about Dante hall, but D'Angelo Hall from Va Tech ran it in in 4.15. The fastest 40 I ever heard of was a guy who I think plays for Dallas Cowboys, a WR #89 named Randy Williams he has mainly been a special teams guy. But he was clocked at 4.04 sec

Alexander Wright (WR for Raiders in 90's) had the fastest b4 that(I think). He had run a 4.09 40yd.

These times are in pads and on grass. Also - you are accelerating for pretty much the entire 40., those times wou ld net about a 9 in the hundred yard dash, being as though terminal speed would be around 25 mph. Put those guys on a rubber track, with blocks, and I bet they would be just sub 9 seconds, and they probably could be olympic runners, but football sure pays a lot more.

Now lets stop debating and keep to the subject.

This should be fun, guys. Lets keep it that way.

I take it that the football players times were without their equipment on.

I thought I read that the times were with equipment. Either way they were run in grass.

And as I stated, I feel that:
"you are accelerating for pretty much the entire 40., those times wou ld net about a 9 in the hundred yard dash, being as though terminal speed would be around 25 mph.
