I was in my 4.7 and had a friendly encounter with a late 90's model Ram, it was a 1500 Sport with a Regular Cab, Short Wheelbase, 2X4, Tonneau Cover, and a 5.9L V-8. It took forever to find a red light, when we raced I got the jump off the line but he was right with me the whole time, eventually starting to pull on me at 70 or so, but never catching up. I'd say his front bumper was around my front wheel the entire time. The guy was real cool, we commented on each other's trucks before parting ways, I was pleasently surprised by how fast that truck was.

 

Race me... Was his 5.9 Modded at all?

Had a similar situation the first night I had my 04 Ram. Needless to say, the old Ram didn't last long. Guess he had to try.

 

Oooohhh... LOL! I have two impressive "old" Ram's to show you that the one you raced wasn't trying hard very hard... Mine and another 94... come visit me sometime. LOL!

Well, let's hear about them. I mean, you have 100 HP to make up for right from the start. You have to have some significant mods and internal work done to make that up..[sm=smiley25.gif]

And don't get the impression I'm bashing the 360. I have one in my Coronet, and it runs well.

 

Not sure if mine does, I'd like to think so... I've beat some great cars in my truck... but the other 94 I was referring to would CERTAINLY have that and more. It's got a TON of mods... it's my buddy's although I get to drive it!! Outstanding 5 Speed with the orginal R/T package, and a zilion other things... I will soon be showcasing the truck on my site and the modifcation list is long and tedious. LOL! I will have it... but now come now... don't get yourself in a twist... racing is all in good fun and I'm not saying your truck isn't fast... I just don't think you should put the "old" Ram's down because there are some quick sleepers out there... I've got two on hand to prove it. That's all.

Actually... mine is a 5.9 360, but my buddies is a 5.2 318... but I'm telling you... it's FRICKIN fast. Some major work is to come on her... drag radials, 4 speed, and so much more... I can't wait to show it off on my site. LOL!

I didn't put down the "old" Rams.[sm=smiley24.gif] It was simply the easiest way of describing the truck. I couldn't tell what color it was, if it was a 318 or 360, or what year. It was an extended cab, 4x2, with an exhaust system on it, but it was definitely not a post 2002 Ram.

 

Tehehehe... we'll have to meet up, set up, line up, and hook up... see who wins... it would be FUN!

Sounds like fun. I'm not good for anything beyond the speed limit. Not worth the risk.

Although, I do fly back up north a couple times a year to go race (help) my Dad and Brother at the Chrysler Classic events. This year I'm planning on joining them for the Pittsburgh (hometown) and Norwalk events.
