Jeff Gordon complains about weight
DId anyone hear of this I heard it on T.V. but I can't find an article. He was complaining about a women driver that is about 100 lbs. less than him. He's saying it's an advantage to her. WTF how is she going to help that. You're telling me that he wants her to get fat so she'll be equal??? How does he think Ryan Newman and Micheal Waltrip feels, they are two of the biggest guys in NASCAR. F'N CRY BABY

RE: Jeff Gordon complains about weight
So I was sitting around at work bored and being the good engineering intern I ran some numbers to see if Robby "Crash" Gordon's gripe had any merit. In any form of racing the biggest number for acceleration and top speed performance is the power-to-weight ratio. So I did some internet searching and here's what I got...
Weight of average NASCAR stock car: 3,400 lbs.
Minimum weight (Read target weight) of IRL car: 1,500 lbs.
Rough NASCAR engine output: 800 hp
Rough IRL engine output: 650 hp
Danica Patrick's weight: 100 lbs.
Robby Gordon's weight: 180 lbs.
Okay...given that:
P/W ratio of Danica Patrick in an IRL car: 2.5 lbs per hp
P/W ratio of Robby gordon in an IRL car: 2.62 lbs per hp
P/W ratio of Danica Patrick in a stock car: 4.375 lbs per hp
P/W ratio of Robby Gordon in a stock car: 4.475 lbs per hp
So looking at the results, .12 lbs/hp is actually a noteworthy advantage in motorsports, in other words, RG's gripe is technically legit. But on principle grounds, penalizing someone for just being them is just plain wrong. It's like the NBA penalizing Shaq for being 7'1" and 320 pounds, I personally don't think he has any real basketball skills at all, but, hey, he was blessed with size so who am I to tell him not to use it. In other words, I'm with everyone else, suck it up Robby and get on a treadmill.
