2006 Hemi QC versus a 2011 F150 Lariat
While i was out picking up oil and a filter for the demon, I came up on what looked to be a brand new F150 Lariat still wearing the temp tags.
We ended up side by side at an intersection where the right lane ended about an 8th of a mile past the light and i was in the right lane. At first, I didnt expect the guy to do anything but as the cross traffic slowed, the guy started inching forward and as the cross traffic turning lane got the green light, i could hear him come up against the converter. When the light turned green, I went from idle and the tires spun hard...he hopped out just a bit but before i got the tires settled down i had pulled even and ahead of him..waving my hand out the window to signal for him to keep up. but he couldnt.
by the time we got to the merging point i was at least a few lengths ahead...and the new Ford had failed to keep pace with my 6yo quad cab.
It didnt have EcoBoost badges so Im assuming that its either a 5.0 or 6.2 as the Lariant doesnt offer a V6....and the TT V6 has special badges. In either case, the new Ford V8 struggled to keep up even when I was burning the hell out of the back tires. I didnt even bother peddling the truck to get traction as I closed and passed him before i got solid traction. up ahead, i turned off and turned around to head back where i was going and i waved as i went past the guy...but he just flipped me off.
It might be the bestselling truck in the industry but even with new motors, its far from the fastest. Ford truck owners should probably just be happy bragging about being the bestselling...because their performance measures are still lacking - even compared to an older hemi with 80k.

Your truck should weigh about 5200lbs. Those pigs are over 6K. They do have a much better 6 speed auto. The Hemi is under rated as far as what it can do. It may have been a 4.6L. I don't know if the 5.4L is still available or not, but neither were close to being fast.
My Hemi has outrun a couple of new Fords and the new, ugly Chebby's.
Either way, congrats on the win!!

My truck weighed 5314lbs, full street weight at norwalk. ford has done a good job of bumping up the power in so many models (like the mustang) - i dont know why they didnt put more effort into matching the power of the new hemi.
That's the problem. They have matched the power numbers with the 6.2L and close with the Eco-boost, but the extra weight is killing them. Ford has always been on top of the game with the Mustang. But even though their trucks are pretty tough, they have always lacked in the power department.
The 01 5.4L F150 I had had only 260hp but 350lb/ft. Those engines had a 4.17" stroke. That's huge. The 460 was only 3.85". It towed ok, even though it only had 3.55 gears and 31" tires, but wasn't fast.
On another note, the 11 models have a EPAS system. Electric power steering. This is evidently a weak link. You can't even smack the tie rod ends loose with a hammer without damaging the system. You must use a puller. How can this stand up offroad if you actually went 4 wheeling? I would rather have a gearbox on my Ram than the rack and pinion but it is better than the EPAS system. Check it out if you get a chance.
