Default Kyle Busch Becomes The Youngest Winner In The Nextel Cup Series

Kyle Busch wins at California, becoming the youngest driver ever to win a Nextel Cup race, by 4 days.

Ryan Newman is -1 in 10th behind McMurray who is in 11th. But Ryan says laughing "We've got our heads underwater just a little bit, but we'll come back up and get fresh air". Jeff Gordan in 30 points behind Newman in the current standings.

He's grrreat!

Twenty-year-old Kyle Busch on Sunday became the youngest driver to win a NASCAR Cup race when he took the green-white-checkered in the Sony HD 500 at Fontana. Mark Martin and Kurt Busch earned Chase berths.

Chase's DODGE Lap by Lap: Sony HD 500
September 5, 2005
12:05 AM EDT (04:05 GMT)

Lap 247: Scott Riggs and Sterling Marlin touch, sending Riggs to the wall. Also involved, Robby Gordon and Scott Wimmer. And the yellow's out. And we're headed for another green-white-checkered finish.

Lap 240: Ten to go. It's Kyle Busch, Kenseth, Stewart, Kahne and Edwards, as Brian Vickers gets around Mark Martin for sixth. Jeff Gordon has slipped all the way back to 29th.

Lap 209: Right now, Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon have the same number of points.

Lap 198: Boris Said brings out the caution with another spin.

Lap 192: Stewart gets back by Kahne, as does Kenseth.

Lap 145: Here comes the field onto pit road. Kenseth beats Stewart to the end line, followed by Martin, Kyle Busch and Sterling Marlin. However, Jeff Green stayed out and led that lap.

Lap 144: The caution comes out as Kurt Busch spins through the frontstretch grass, possibly because of another flat tire. Rusty Wallace will get his lap back.

Lap 99: The green comes out and Stewart gets past Rusty Wallace to put him a lap down. Jimmie Johnson and Jeremy Mayfield are running 32nd and 33rd.

Lap 96: Great time for teams to get gas and fresh rubber. It's Mayfield, Stewart, Martin and Kyle Busch ahead of the pack. Casey Mears, Kevin Harvick and Boris Said are a lap down to the leaders.

Lap 94: Hermie Sadler is sitting sideways near the inside wall on the backstretch, which brings out the caution. Rusty Wallace had just made a pit stop under green.

Lap 59: Casey Mears with an unscheduled stop for a vibration.

Lap 14: Casey Mears has gained 13 spots to 21st.

7:34 p.m.: Dale Jarrett on his little to-do with Ryan Newman at Bristol: "Last week's over." Ryan Newman's response: "Tough situation with the Chase and last week." Kevin Harvick keeps a stiff upper lip.

7:24 p.m.: Jimmie Johnson home movies, starring Casey Mears!

Default RE: Kyle Busch Becomes The Youngest Winner In The Nextel Cup Series

Now all we need is to have Kenseth and Gordon suck major *** next week
and have Newman and McMurray to do well.

That would give Dodge 4 cars in the Chase!!!

My projected Chase Field:

1 Tony Stewart Joe Gibbs Racing Chevy
2 Greg Biffle Roush Racing Ford
3 Jimmie Johnson Hendrick Motorsports Chevy
4 Rusty Wallace Penske Racing Dodge
5 Mark Martin Roush Racing Ford
6 Kurt Busch Roush Racing Ford
7 Jeremy Mayfield Evernham Motorsports Dodge
8 Carl Edwards Roush Racing Ford
9 Jamie McMurray Chip Ganassi Racing Dodge
10 Ryan Newman Penske Racing Dodge

That would be a nice mix.

I expect 2 of those Dodges to fail....since there is going to be a very heated attack next week. Especially with a short track and the last 5 spots within reach for at least 8 drivers.....

I'm pulling for McMurray though, he got screwed last year....

I'm pulling for ol #24 though...

Default RE: Kyle Busch Becomes The Youngest Winner In The Nextel Cup Series

I'd like ya'll to take notice of the last 3 of 4 drivers to win at Richmond. I think Ryan will do very well and make it into the Chase. He is a short track guy...

Here is a detailed prediction for next weekend - Chase Line: Richmond

Rusty Wallace has six wins and 26 top-10s in 34 starts on the .750-mile track, the most of all drivers. But he's winless in his last 16 races. However, a Dodge has won three of the last four Cup races at Richmond.

05/14/05: Chevy American Revolution 400 - Kasey Kahne (Dodge)
09/11/04: Chevy Rock and Roll 400 - Jeremy Mayfield (Dodge)
05/15/04: Chevy American Revolution 400 - Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Chevrolet)
09/06/03: Chevy Rock & Roll 400 - Ryan Newman (Dodge)
---------------------------------------------

Richmond International Raceway

• Ten drivers will be racing for four spots in Chase:

7. Jeremy Mayfield (+145 from 11th place)
8. Carl Edwards (+86 from 11th)
9. Matt Kenseth (+11 from 11th )
10. Jamie McMurray (+1 from 11th)
11. Ryan Newman (-1 from 10th)
12. Jeff Gordon (-30 from 10th)
13. Elliott Sadler (-52 from 10th)
14. Dale Jarrett (-117 from 10th)
15. Kevin Harvick (-131 from 10th)
16. Joe Nemechek (-135 from 10th)

Mayfield will clinch if he finishes 39th or better, and Edwards will clinch if he finishes 19th or better.
