Elliott Sadler edged Kevin Harvick on Friday at Talladega Superspeedway to win the Bud Pole for Sunday's UAW-Ford 500. It's Sadler third Bud Pole Award of the 2005 season.
Sadler toured the 2.66-mile oval in 50.597 seconds, an average speed of 189.260 mph.
Meanwhile, Rusty Wallace's engine expired on his No. 2 Dodge during his second lap. As a result, Wallace, who enters the weekend just seven points behind Jimmie Johnson for the Nextel Cup Series points lead, will start well back in the pack Sunday.

Yeah we were. I thought it was real cool to see Dale Jarret win. It been a while. I felt he was over due. I thought McMurray had a good shot there too until Smoke took the lead back.
