FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- There's a new winner at Texas Motor Speedway. Again.
Defending champion Ryan Newman's departure after smashing his No. 12 Dodge into a wall assured an eighth winner in eight TMS races long before Elliott Sadler won the Samsung/RadioShack 500 on Sunday.
"Something happened all of a sudden," Newman said. "We were bouncing off the wall and the throttle stuck at about 5,000 RPMs. That was it."
Newman had been running in the top 10 when he hit the wall between Turns 3 and 4 on lap 197.
Sadler joins TMS winners Newman, Matt Kenseth, Dale Jarrett, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Terry Labonte, Mark Martin and Jeff Burton.
Another TMS streak also continued Sunday, with no victories by a driver in the front row.
Polesitter Bobby Labonte led for only five laps and finished 25th after experiencing electrical problems. Bill Elliott also started in the front row and led for 26 laps but was knocked out when a flat tire sent him into the wall on the 275th lap.
