Default Neon vs. Hemi part 2

First off, no video....sorry yall.

If you read the first post, you know that my buddy's brother has a Hemi that he wants to make fast. Well, we raced again last night. Never side by side, but we both had crappy results.

Hemi- 15.38 from a previous best of 15.55. What makes this so bad is he just spent $2000 on a fiberglass functional ram air hood, exhaust, and 4.56 gears. I thought for sure he would drop about a half second, but nope, 2 tenths. Needless to say he's pissed and baffled. We are hoping he just needs to pick up a programmer when they come out for the new Hemi's. (No he has not installed his Nitrous ....yet, but it's setting at his house ready to go on)

Neon- 14.16 from a previous best of 13.86. I just installed a new intake manifold and exhaust. I know the exhaust is good to go, so I'm thinking I might have lost a tad of power on the top end with the intake swap. My car feels stronger on the street (more low end torque) but I lost 3 tenths at the track. Now it was about 20 degrees cooler when I went my 13.86 and my car had a fresh tune up and clean K and N. So maybe I just need to get off my *** and tune her up and go back.

Either way it was fun as hell!! If you are ever in central Florida, come on down to Desoto Speedway!!

Rick

PS- there was a Viper RT-10 street car that went 10.05!!!!!!!! STREET CAR!!!! Also About 6 SRT-4's, and a whole bunch of know it all ricers in Hondas that were to fast and to furious[:-]!!

How much air are you running in your tires at the strip?

I run 20 X 8 Mickey T slicks at 11 lbs on drivers side and 13 lbs on pass.

Both passes had 1.8 60 foot times.
