Default Talladega

Hey they're repaving Talladega Motor Speedway! Not much for the modern NASCAR but did you all know that the first closed course 200 mph was recorded here in a DODGE DAYTONA driven by Buddy Baker! Now that's awesome!

I believe he ran 209 at Daytona and 212 at Dega. Both in the same season.

I'm sorry. It was 210 at Daytona and it was 212 at Dega. Thats fast. Last year Rusty went there and was able to run without a plate and was running between 235 and 240. Thats incredible. Could you imagine watching a race with cars going that fast.

Pretty sure I'm correct. Can't remember the program but it was about the winged cars and they interviewed Buddy baker. Remember it was a Daytona, Blue and silver color scheme, #88, but can't remember who he was driving for at the time. Alot of drivers and teams at the time were switching to the winged cars because of their dominance. I remember him talking about how those cars were at the limits of tire technology at the time because of the downforce being created. It just amazes me the speeds acheived with the tech at the time. Sure the Hemis had the power to get the car there but those cars were a lot closer to (stock) than what they race today. Those drivers had some *****!
