Default HEMI Ram vs. Silverado SS

HEMI Ram against the Silverado SS, there are some things that really bother me about these two trucks. Why is the regular cab HEMI Ram running even with the Silverado SS? The quad cab 2X4 HEMI Ram is running a lot slower from what I hear. The Silverado SS weighs over 5,300lbs and has 345 hp / 380 tq. The regular cab Ram weighs 4,800lbs and has 345 hp / 375 tq. How can 5 foot-pounds of torque make that much of a difference? I know the SS has AWD but the Ram weighs less. I think the quad cab HEMI Ram should be running even with the SS, the regular cab should be faster, in my opinion. I have also read that the 5.7 HEMI engine is the most powerful NA engine in a truck on the dyno.

The Hemi made more power than any naturally aspirated stock truck engine we ever dyno tested. And the mighty Hemi lived up to it's legacy by easily producing over 500HP with the Kenne Bell supercharger kit.

MAybe they didn't dyno test the SS. I suspect foul play in the tests you read. See the other thread, sad sad day.

Did you run your truck? How did you do?

I saw a RC SB 2wd, 3.55 open rearend, Hemi run 15.2. He had nothing done to the truck and was running the 17's on chrome steel wheels. The truck spun the tires alot of the line, so lord knows how much time he was losing there.

Nope I didn't get to. They started eliminations at 4 and I got there at 4:30 so they wouldn't let me enter. I'm going to go back for the grudge racing Wednesday night.

I don't know if you saw the post but I raced a Lightning: 13.92 (him), 15.15 (me), a Mustang GT 14.98 (him) 15.12 (me), a very modded '91 Chevy 1500 15.5 (him) 15.01 (me). It was so much fun. I'm going to try and run the Bonneville this Wednesday.

You would have to be modded to beat the Hemi from what I've seen. 15.5-16.0 for a stock R/T RC. What do you run?

I've got an article in the spring 2003 issue, issue #22, of MoPar Now that shows the R/T getting beat by a 4.7L RC Dakota. Both stock.
