Default mustang gt

last night i raced a 2004 mustang gt with a cai sts exhaust and gears(dont know the ratio but he geared it for 1/4)
and my srt has whats listed below anyway he had me through 1st and 2nd gear and then from 3 on i pulled about 2 car lengths and a 2nd race with him i pulled 1 or so i am on factory tires at regular pressure i didnt lower the pressure for traction my question is should i have beat him by more or should he be pretty close wondering so i know if i need to work on my driving thanks

don't tell the mustang boys this story... according them, their cars are God and we are nothing more than Skittle owners... hahaha... (I know, not all Mustang owners are this way *cough Amy cough*)... but I've seen my fair share of "my Ford is better than all" stories... ha-ha...

A lot of SRT-4 owners get beaten off the line simply because it takes a lot of practice and a few mods to make it launch better....the SRT-4 powerband makes up for the difference in most cases.....

The SRT-4 has a great low 0-60 MPH, but it's just hard as hell getting it to hook up right to do it. The Mustang GT has the advantage of having bigger, wider tires and being RWD. As the RWD launches it transfers all it's weight back onto the drive wheels giving it far better grip and launch, where the SRT-4's FWD transfers it's weight off and away from the drive wheels decreasing it's grip and making the launch far more difficult and prone to wheel spin and total traction loss.

1 to 2 car lenghs is about right. Depending on how the other guy drives and his mods. I have beaten a bunch of 04 Mustangs. They don't like losing to our cars....it's a little demeaning to them. There are alot of them out there though, and some of them are pretty fast, so don't get too cocky. You might pull up next to one and get your *** handed to you. Good kill though.

I've seen my buddy's 2003 GT whoop a stock 2005 (?) SRT-4...only by a fender. But his GT is modded! That's pretty sad considering the GT is Ford's signature car. Let us know when you whoop on a 99 or 01 Cobra!

BTW, wheel hop OWNS you guys...thats why you get beat off the line too!

From the perspective of someone who owns both a Cobra and an SRT-4, I can see both sides.

SRT-4's are cheap so pretty much any 16 year old kid with middle class parents that are willing to buy one for them can own one. They speed everywhere they go, talk trash and try to race every car they come into contact with. This gives the SRT-4 a bad rep. They think they can beat anyone. Then they meet that guy who has a Cobra that has money to spend on the engine; comes along and takes their pride away from them. Then they develope an inferiority complex toward Mustang owners. Just like Mustang owners have developed for the Twin turbo Z, Supra TT, and RX-7. Good thing I have a Z too or I would be a mess.
