no shiznit! Ive been watching nascar for 25 years, I know how it works. The cars now still have minor differences; the COT will all be the same; the only differences is the engine.

RE: Banning NASCAR!
nascar is boring...barely going 200 mph...dragging on for hours..
real races only last 4-6 seconds...

Its not necessarily about the race for the fans, BadStratRT...but the NASCAR experience! Rooting for your favorite driver, watching them climb (or fall) through the rankings weekly and enjoying the culture around it. I think it truely comes alive when you do a proper weekend at the track, watching the Happy Hour, maybe going to the Busch Race..doing all the stuff there is to do and having a good time with your family/friends.
At least that's how it is for me....

i do see your point to some extent, but the NHRA goes out of their way to make it a more fan-friendly environment...the price of admission also gets you into the garage area, and no matter where youre sitting, youre much closer to the action. it is also a weekend (or longer) event...the drivers are FAR more personable, and they arent a bunch of snotty ****** who wont take a few seconds to sign an autograph. the era of "the NASCAR driver who gives a damn about the fans" is long gone thanks to the likes of jimmy johnson and phony stweart.
Just to show that im not inexperienced, I have been to lots of nascar races, such as the following tracks, althoguh its been a LONG while:
pocono
michigan
dover
rockingham
charlotte
atlanta
north wilkesboro
talledega
darlington
ive not been to indy, daytona ( ) or a road course...or the newer tracks..ive not been to a race in some 12 years, but when i was younger, my dad took me to alot of races, and with the exceptions of dover and NW, we stayed in the infield, which was cool because at tracks like rockingham, the BNG guys use the infield as the garage area, so i got to meet alot of then-up and comers because they were staying in the infield, like gordon. ive met most of the older drivers, and i dont know how he is now, but even gordon was social with the fans when i was still going, but he was very young. mark martin is one of the friendlier drivers, as is richard. rusty wallace, on the other hand, was a ***** every time that i met him.

Add in the roaring powerplants with the ground shaking beneath your feet. I'm going to the Pontiac Excitement Nationals the weekend after next here in Columbus/Kirkersville. You can get a 4 day pit pass at this track for about $100. I'll probably only get to go Saturday and Sunday though.

RE: Banning NASCAR!
i was at a mopar event a few years back, and well after the regular racing was over, dean skuza brought his funny car onto the track for some tuning problems, in order to make good runs the next day...the track was empty, and there was no timing system running, but he came through the 1000 foot mark wide open while my dad and i were sitting trackside on the golf cart...it was so f'in cool...the explosion of fire quickly followed by the roar, it shook everything until he let off, right past us...
there is nothing like a 6000hp nitro funny car launching...
