Default My first experience with a Cobra.

Well...I new it was about to happen. I pull up and see a Black Covetable 03-04 Cobra. I didn't want to make the first move because I'm all stock and I know I would've gotten my butt handed to me. We went normal at the light then after he puts it in 2nd he floors it. All you hear is vvVWWWWWEEEEP. I was like dang, can't pass this up. I floor it in second and while he’s letting off and when I come beside him he nails it again. By this time I'm slamming to 3rd and he jumps a little on me but when the turbo went he didn’t leave me, we were tandem. He pulls up at the next light (super nice guy) and says "you all stock", I reply "yep". He replies with "pulls a little harder than my EVO," I laugh a little and say "it's not that quick." The light turns green and he points and we go. First gear and rapped me, but after that he wasn't really pulling on me that much. I thought he would just straight up leave me, but he didn't. We stopped at about 85 when we hit a slight corner. He had his kid in the car and I had my girl. I don't know, it's all good. At least he wasn't a dick. [8D]

LoL - Right!

90% of the "Mustang Guys" that ive ran into in my years of driveing have been Dicks and think that their is nothing ...... that is NOTHING - faster than a Mustang.

My 87 year old stepfather drives an '03 Mustang GT ragtop and he's always making comments on my SRT-4. The last one was, "Nice car, too bad it has a Dodge nameplate....."

That's fine with me, he's got tons of $$........and my mom will get half (she's 75)......and I'm an only child.......I hope they are still making Vipers then........

Bragging rights are cool but one has to think, the Mustang is a cool car. It has been around since the 60's and has a huge crowd. It is a rear wheel drive hot rod. On the other hand, for 20,000 dollars how can a person have more fun in a front wheel drive car than SRT-4 owners? (We only been here 3 years) Mine was short lived but I wouldn't trade that experience, it was pure fun. I envy those of you that have put mods on your vehicles. I didn't have enough time. It is gratifying for this old fart to see what a 4 cylinder can do. I think each has there own respect. I have (had) both and I would take the SRT-4 as the most fun car I ever owned. My two cents.

I see the Cobra at ALMOST the top of the American V8 Muscle game. Still a V8 with all the torque that put muscle cars at the status that have today, but with duel overhead cams, boost, and engineering that tickles anyone fancy as far as a well thought out car. I bow very easy to that car...not many...but definitely for what that car accomplished for Ford. It’s just the same our cars have done for Dodge.

Wonder what they put down on the dyno. I know Cobra's put down almost what they claim, 390hp. They're lighter as well. Everyone knows a pushrod can be fast. <--Joke, no flamming please!

I just sold my '02 Kenne Bell GT (needed the money and guy offered good price) and I thought I'd really miss it, but I don't. To be honest, I didn't expect much from my SRT-4 when I bought it because it was so cheap but I actually enjoy driving it much more than the Mustang and the overall quality seems to be better on the Dodge...believe it or not. Mustang was fast but pretty much sucked as a daily driver with 4.10 gears, 11psi and the 16MPG wasn't too neat. I was at about 425 RWHP but with the automatic tranny and 100lbs of blower and intercooler...it was pretty heavy - I think my much lighter SRT-4 with a Stage 3 setup would be pretty close in performance to my old Mustang.
