Default 8.75 Rear End Info

I have 1 3/8 small stem pinion (341) rear end in my 1969 Firebird. We blew it up last year and Im looking to repleace it with 489 internals.
Are They interchangeable??

I would like to keep the stock housing and axels if possible. I would just like to change the "pumpkin..?" aka the center section:
Will "489" internatls bolt into my "341" housing,,, this is the part im refuring to

Heres a pic of when the 341 gears blew up.

Thanks for any info!

The center section assemblies all bolt into the housing. Since you have a spool, you'll need to make sure that the spool has the correct spline count for the axles. OEM is 30. Spools come in 30 or 35. HOWEVER, it's not recommended that you use stock axles with a spool.
