IROC = It's Really Only a Camaro. Unless it has the TPI 350 those 3rd gens are slow. They are ment for big blocks but they came about 15 years too late. There are some fast 3rd gens out there but if they have the tbi motors they just flat out suck.

By the way what was Dodge's sports car of the 80s?

Well, there wasn't much but Shelby stepped up with several turbo 2.2 cars that held their own when it came to Camaros. For example an 87 Camaro IROC-Z ran the quarter in 15.2 and a Shelby CSX ran it in 15.3.
Fortunately, Mopar people are pretty recourceful and upping the boost have some turbo K-cars running 10's. There is a funny video at thedodgegarage.com that has a turbo Caravan putting a whooping on a 2001 Camaro SS

Badstrat, that 10 second Mirada I was talking about before should be up here next weekend during the PSCA race (Pacific Street Car Association).
I'll post some results and try and get some pictures.

I don't get it, what do you mean they were meant for Big-blocks? The bodies flex like arubber band, there's no room in the engine bay, dual exhaust is next to impossible with a smallblock,
the 700r4 is junk, the rear end is junk.
I mean, a big block would lay waste to that car before it too would eventually blow up due to it's own self destructive rod to stroke ratio. The only good thing about them was the aero design and the traction arm that would help break its own rear end!

Nothing like a pile of Camaro bits to brighten ones day.[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

For the most part IROC's came with the carbed 305 and the TPI 305. Some the 350 but only with the auto, since the T-5 couldn't handle the torque. Most 305 IROC's run in the 15's and 16's depending mostly on auto or T-5 and driver. Expect 350 cars to run low to high 14's depending on year and options. My car ran 14.4 @ 95, bone stock, 135,000 miles, loaded with power everything.

See, the chance of running up against a true IROC (to me a true IROC has to have the 350) is slim and none. Here are the best numbers that I have found on the '90 IROC Z28's:

1990 Camaro IROC Z28 1LE 5spd 305 230@4400 300@3200 6.3 14.8@95.4mph

1990 Camaro IROC Z28 1LE 350 245@4400 345@3200 6.1 14.8@96mph
