Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

will it be just pull out old motor/trans and put new motor/trans in or will there be lots more to do then motor mounts? and if the work is going to have to be done should I just go all out and put the V-10 under the hood?

Its a pretty easy swap, I have done it a few times. You will need of course a 440 and the transmission, the small block trans will NOT work. You will need 4x4 motor mount brackets, truck oil pan and dip stick, exhaust manifolds from a truck or RV or headers, the p/s pump brkt from a truck, it mounts up high on a 440 from a truck, car will not work, its too low, small brake booster. The radiator should be a 4 core or elec fan or both, the inlet and outlets on the engines are different on some years of BBlocks, the water pump housing is what you need to make sure you have a truck for the year 78 example. You can get by with a left side exit but you will have to change the radiator to fit the hoses. This are you can play with some to best figure out the easiest route to go. The distributor wires (pick up) will have to be made a little longer. I think thats about it, I don't believe I am forgetting anything but if I am someone will chime in. Its a great swap and WOW what a difference over the small block!! *****The trans tailshaft will have to be swapped to a 4x4 one if the trans is out of a car******

rtaylor is right .as he said there is a lot u have to do all the wireing will have to be modifyed...i have an 89 ...they are a one of a kind animal...
but if u are handy u can make the 360 in ur veh do well. first go lower gears .front and rear. i tryed all kinds of things.. the bigest problem is the computer ..there is nothing anyone makes that i could find for the 89.. so i had the engine re mfg. it is .30 over std cam and a crosswinds manifold, headers 2 1/2 all the way out both sides. i made an adaptor for the TBI. put a bung for the ox senser. go to the auto store and get a pkg of spark plug adapters and weld them in the headers.
u use all the connections as before..it is fairly simple. i like the TBI ..get a set of rebuilt injecters. and u should be good to go
am running 33"x 16 w/ 3.55 gears an am very satisfyed w/ how it it runs .i spent 3 years trying every thing to get it to run . it will stay with a lot of the more modifyed right now .there is good responce from the TBI ... lots of luck quinn

too u might try ramchargercentral.com there are a lot of how to's this site i like too it.s good qp
