Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default wiring

Ok, I have a real mess on my hands. I picked up a 1984 Ramcharger 4WD Prospector badging about two years ago. Here's the most recent:

Anyways, the electrical is shot. Shot as in a battery exploded under the hood from the previous owner, shot as in I took the dash out and there was a calculator left in there, and shot is shorting/burned wires from the old allen wrench connectors that were not tightened. So I went junkyarding and I have 2 donor harness, and turns out they are trashed too.
Anyone here tried the painless route? Like the gauge harness/ engine and I am thinking about the 18 circuit universal truck harness. Any help? I looked for the newb board but was unable to find it.

Thanks

Hey 1996Ram318,

I am memeber on rcc.com as well. Here's a previous post from there:

Ok, so I have come to this conclusion:
I am wiring it myself

So I found this for the either the gauges (mechanical, electrical) wiring wise:
http://www.painlessperformance.com/w...SearchField=22

Now if I get this for the rest of it for the interior:

http://www.painlessperformance.com/w...rchField=10202

Now here is the email I sent the painlesswiring guy.

Hey Dennis a couple more quick questions. We were thinking of using #10204, and splicing in length and connectors when needed. I also needed a engine wiring harness. If I was to go with #10204, which would be compatiable? Gauge wiring wise which is compatiable with #10204, #30301 or #30302. I really don't have a preferance and if I am going to take this on and I have checked online, it can be done from what I read. My bottom line question is, if I go with the 18 circuit harness I need a compatible engine harness/gauge harness. How do they connect? Or what really what are my options. I know modifying is a most wire wise, but the connects of the harness is my concern now.

Thanks alot,
Gavin

So I will probally hear back tommarow. I really need to get something rolling on this I just rebuilt my motor and it needs to be toyed with but I need electrical to do that ya know? LOL

Here is what I was sent!

The 18 circuit harness includes all the wiring to the motor and gauges other
than having enough experience to be able to modify and adapt if and where
it's needed the 10204 will do the complete job.

Thats good to know. I just looked at a truck I may buy for parts today, so I might be getting to work sooner than I expected.
