Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

I had an '85 Ramcharger 4x2 with a 318/auto setup and i was REALLY HAPPY with it. Unfortunately, we needed something better on gas, so I traded it in on a (don't shoot me) Subaru wagon. It was a sacrifice for the family, O.K.

Personally, I don't care for the 360. Years ago I saw several give up prematurely (low oil pressure thing). But, don't depend solely on my experience. Check reviews. A lot of them! Cars.com is one good source.

I'll chime in here ....

We had an 89 for a while. Bought it to play with. Was not a primary vehicle. We didn't leave it stock either

Pulled the 360 out and bored it 30 over, turned the crank 10 under...domed the pistons...set the compression ratio to 9:8:1...threw in an RV cam...ripped off the smog & a/c...tossed in Dough Thorly headers. That thing was a BEAST!!!!

Tranny had 4 gears...only ever used 2. It was geared so low and had so much torque you could let the clutch out and never touch the pedal...it just started crawling If yeah wanted to play you could drop it in 3rd and roast the tires!

It was a bit big to try and keep up with some of the Jeeps but it could go anywhere there was room

Now before you ask the next question....we got one heck of an offer on it. Couldn't pass up that kind of change over

Left stock as a daily driver...it got looks that is for sure. After we tweaked and peaked it...there was no point taking it out on the road.

Just my opinion, if you're looking to buy a ramcharger to stick with for a while I'd hold out for an 89 so you don't have to deal with the carbeuration, even better, a 90 to 93 so you get the overdrive too. And fuel mileage isn't to bad with the throttle body and OD
