Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default Swap 318 TBI over to 360

Hello folks i am wondering if i need anything other than the Torque Converter weighted to complete this project. I am looking to Swap a 318 TBI over to a 360 and use the same TBI set up. The 318 came out of a 1989 Ram and lives in a 1981 Power Ram. The 360 isout of a 84 or 85 Van.

What can u tell me everything and anything will help. Here's a pic of the truck 6" lift on 35" mickey t MTZ's

I did this on my 86 4x4 Ramcharger. Used a running '88 pickup donor. Dropped in an '82 360. Get ready to change the ENTIREwiring harness. I started at the rt. frnt park light and wound up in the doors 2wks later tinkering with it after work.Changed the steering column too because the plugs are different, dimmer switch moves to the column etc. Just left as much stuff under the hood pluggedon the harnessas possible, computer and all, layed it all back in the Ramcharger and plugged it up. Had to drill a couple holes here and there but pretty straight forward. Used the 318 dist., and left ex. manifold for the oxygen sensor. Used 360 intake, made an adapter.Call Summit and get a Chevy T.B.I.12 P.S.I. pump. Mounts on the frame. Hook to the stock relay. Hang a weighted hose on the pick up tube in the tank so it stays submerged, use vapor line for return.Don't expect it to set the world on fire over 3500 rpm though, the t.b. is kinda small. The only other problem I've had is the timing curve seems be a little off? Mine is set @ 16 deg. initial [indicated 16 that is]to have any guts at all, any more and it rattles like hell at cruise,14 deg. and it's sickly. Not sure if this is due to differences in the chambers as the '88 has better flame travel, and the computer is programmed accordingly,or if the E.G.R.passages are plugged up, or if it's just too lean. Been intending to try a 360 t.b. or raise the fuel press. a little to see if it helps, just ain'tdunnit yet. Drove it from 2200 mi. r/t Texas to Colorado, got 13.8 best tank, up from10 carbed. Can stand it on the bumpers with no problems. Worthwhile swap. Hope this helps.

Default RE: Swap 318 TBI over to 360

hi am a little confused.... but here goes
if u are going to put a 360 in your veh. and u removed a 318 .and if it was an 89..1= the tbi is larger on the 360 than the 313.. 2= the computer is different on them..
so the tbi and the computer will have to be changed as a pair, so all will be 360 .all elese will work fine . i have spent about 3 yrs messing w/ my 89 360 .. the tbi plates are 2 5/16 to feed the 360 ..
the 318 are much smaller. and u wont have any responce 1 1/4 if i remember rt. but all the wireing will be the same quinn
