Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default ´90 RamCharger firing order

I am having trouble figuring out the firing order for a ´90 Ramcharger. The manual says it is 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2, but it keeps misfiring badly. I am normally a Ford guy, and this is my first Dodge, and I must say after a month or so, on more than one occasion I have been in for a rude awakening. This is a nightmare! If someone else has a different firing order, please let me know so I can try it out. thanks! shasten

That's the right order, same for big and small block, but the cyls are numbered different than a Ford. Might be what's throwing you? 1,3,5,7 are on the driver side 2,4,6,8 on the pass.

Question thanks for the response

I had figured out the piston numbers, that is not it. i think whoever rebuilt this engine did the reverse timing and put the firing order backwards. I know that works with Ford and Chevy, and I imagine that it works with Dodge as well. Not really sure. I don´t have any clue as to how one figures for that. I know the wires into the distributor would change, but how to figure for that--I don´t know.
