Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default broken something? what?

I bought a 73 powerwagon a couple of months ago for plowing snow. I love the truck and it plows like a dream. last week it froze down and I was trying to get it loose and something went bang in the driveline and all the fun was over. Neither drive shaft moves when in gear with the clutch out so it's not an axle or differential. At least I don't see how it could be. Thing is how do I decide if its the trans or transfer case? I could just start taking it apart and see if the trans turns when the case is off but there ought to be a better way. Is one of these more likely to break than the other? BTW you will want to know that it's a 4 spd with 318. I am not living where the truck is so I can only look at it on weekends but when I was under it it looked like the transfer case was married but from what I read it ought to be divorced. is that the case? the truck has 2hi 4hi and 4lo as options on the stick and locking hubs. (there is some doubt if it's a 72 or 73 if it makes any difference) If it's married does that mean it's a NP 205?
