nice trade
Well, figured i'd go ahead and share my latest venture with the crowd.
I just turned this:

Into this:

a la craigslist trade.
The XJ was a good little vehicle, but it was just that......little. Not enough interior room for it's intended uses, and I'd missed having a full size 4x4 ever since I scrapped my '80 powerwagon.
As received, the 1983 RC needed a clutch, windshield, wiper motor, door window motors and a ball joint. Got the clutch and wiper motor sorted yesterday, as well as installing the 4" rough country lift I scored on craigslist for $200. The wheels and 35" tires were left over from my '80. Gotta do gears now; the 3.23's are making it really difficult for the 4 barrel 318 to take grades in stride with the larger tires.
Even better, before I actually had the lift installed, I had sold the 235/75 tires that were on the truck for $150, which was what the clutch kit and flywheel machining cost.
Also gonna get a winch and a roof rack for a spare. But not bad, I think, considering that my cash investment at this point is about $280.
Next on the list is paint. She's goin' flat black
I'll post more pictures as thing progress
