Just recently bought a 1977 dodge powerwagon with a 400 bb
has a edelbrock 1406 carb. Just rebuilt carb and still spitting & farting so thinking timing i hope, what is the timing setting for this truck does anyone know, or does anyone think something else maybe causing this problem. Please help thanks

i used to fun my 440 at about 10 degrees, but it could be a number of things... coil, distributer, plugs, wires, electronic ignition box (if tou have one), electrical issues with wiring to the coil or dist. or the ballast, low voltage to the ignition will cause problems too
so maybe the charging problem is causing running problem as well. it has a new ign box,dis cap, rotor i'm gonna check volt output of alt on the truck right at the alt should be 14 - 15 v i believe. what would the amp meter in the truck have to do with charging problem i thought it just showed the output. the deg i got for timing from autozone said 2 u say 10 why such a big dif

all the power from the alt goes through the amp gauge, before it goes to the battery, the timing... thats what i set mine at 8-10 anyway, i sure that came out of my book but i could be wrong, i also had a lot done to the engine, and yess if the ignition box is getting 11.9 volts or less it wont run right
