Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Question Ramcharger Fuel Smell in Rear Cab

When I'm sleeping in the rear cab of my 87 Ramcharger(360,000 miles), I can smell fuel coming up thru the (clean)carpeted floor. I suspect with age, the seal around the fuel sensor on the top of the tank is shot. Never dropped a tank before. Any advice?

They're not that tough to remove. Just run the tank low, or drain the tank. If you have access to a floor jack and a couple 2X4's for spanning the tank. Release the straps on one side and lower the tank to the ground.

Before you do though, check the vent tube hose and make sure it's still connected. Then check the hose between the filler and the tank. My guess is one of those is off or torn.
