Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Default new intake for 88 318 w/tbi?

i recently bought an 88 ramcharger and i was wondering if a carburetor intake manifold like the ones from Edelbrock would work on this motor or if its too different? it has tbi right now and I'm not sure about what else is different(i have an 85 d150 than I'm used to working on).

reason being is that i drive for an hour and a half each way to and from college and 90% of it is up hill and since its kinda old it lacks the ability to keep up with traffic on the long long long hills.

Post It should work

I can't say for sure, but I do believe that the edlebrock performer dual plane intake part#2176 will fit on the 88. I have an 87 ramcharge 4x4 with the 318/2bbl carb. I am having the same issue with the motor being a dog, and it leaks from the freeze plugs from sitting for 5 yrs. before i got it. I just purchased and 89 tbi motor to put in it, so that i can build the 87 motor up for mud bogging. I put the 89 motor into summit.com's vehicle info and it came back that the 2176 would fit the motor specified. the difference in the tbi motor vs. carb is that in 88 dodge went to roller lifters for the tbi application. A carb intake should work because the only changes dodge made to the heads for the tbi were internal. the intake to head bolt angle didn't change until the magnum engines came into play in 94. If I can get my intake soon enough I'll stick it on and let you know. also for the 318's displacement you won't need more than a 600cfm carb. edlebrock made 2 different ones that will fit. one tuned for performance(1405) and one for fuel economy(1406). Check this out http://www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html. this website gives some good history and cheap performance upgrades for the 318.

cant wait to hear back on if it fits. love them old dodges, but they are just a little underpowered

now i just have to decide if i want to install a detroit locker (yes i know they aren't recommended for daily drivers) because i cant afford an ARB and they dont make a true track for my axle.
