Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Unhappy new question about 85 ram charger will not start

quick question concerning the will not start on my 85 ramcharger, would the ballast resistor keep the vehicle from starting and if so what is required to replace it..
any help would be greatly appreciated.. to clarify the best i can explain, it DOES START or rather it turns over fine, but never catch to run, it just turn over, the last time i actually ran it was about a month ago, it ran fine, i needed a new battery (which i eventually replaced a month later) all lights are bright,
plenty of gas in it, no visible issues as far as i can see.

Ballast resister gets two hot wires from the ignition switch, One hot during crank and the other during run so the answer is yes. You may want to explain your issue in further detail.

Yes, and it's a common failure point. I always carried a spare wrapped in a towel in my tool box. You can jumper it with some wire. It cuts the battery 12 volts to 6 volts but the system can handle 12 volts for a short bit. If it starts with a jumper wire, get a new one, it will probably have one terminal on each end. Remove the single mounting bolt, replace the old one with a new one and plug the wires back in.

Does it sound the same when you are cranking the engine? Does it seem to spin faster?
