Mopar Performance Intake Questions
Entering the freeway, trying to merge into traffic while towing 6000 lbs.
So, one situation out of hundreds that you would experience every day? Somehow, I don't see how that justifies anything. If there is room for your truck/trailer, then move into that space, if there isn't, then you wait. I have never had a problem getting on to the freeway, even towing 5000 lbs of trailer plus load, with an S-10 with a 2.8 V-6..... Folks see you coming, and make room. (99% of the time.)
In the six years I have been driving my truck, the tach has made it over 3K RPM a total of maybe 10 times. Most of those times were when I purposely floored the go-pedal to clear some of the carbon from the cylinders. The smoke cloud was enormous....... Yep, it burns some oil at large throttle openings.

That, and my truck has almost 200K on it...... I dread hearing the BANG!!!!! Rattlerattlerattle of a blown motor. 
Build it for how you need to drive it. THAT makes good sense.
